Cultural Competency At The Bedside: Breaking Down Barriers To Cancer Care – On April 23, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and the National Cancer Institute will be holding an educational program on cultural competency for nursing professionals and social workers. The program will be held at Baruch College in New York City and runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Topics to be discussed include cancer occurrence in different ethnic groups, cultural viewpoints and values, financial difficulties, and helping patients find direction in dealing with cancer care. Dental Health During Cancer Treatments – CancerCare is sponsoring an educational teleconference workshop on April 24 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. ET. Professionals will discuss dental issues and wellness during cancer treatments. Questions are welcomed and encouraged. Miles For Myeloma 5K Walk/Run – The International Myeloma Foundation (IMF) will be hosting a walk/run event on April 25 in Philadelphia. The event begins at 9 a.m. and the course follows Martin Luther King Drive. Proceeds from this event will benefit myeloma research and patients in need of support.
