Current Trends In Leukemia, Lymphoma, And Myeloma ― On February 7, Physicians’ Education Resources will hold an educational symposium at the Renaissance Seattle Hotel. The focus of the symposium is to provide updates on treatment options for leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma originally presented at major national hematology conferences in 2008. The program will also seek to enhance awareness of novel agents that are in development in order to increase the number of patients enrolled in clinical trials. Blood, Stem Cells, And Cancers Of The Blood ― February 7 marks the next lecture in the seventh annual Charles B. Huggins Lecture Series, "Blood, Stem Cells and Cancers of the Blood." This week’s lecture, entitled “Genetic and Epigenetic Alterations in Blood Cells,” takes place from 11 a.m. to noon at The University of Chicago. Over the course of the eight-week series, Ph.D. candidate Wei Xu will give an overview of how and where components of the blood form. The lectures are designed for the general public and will be especially informative for cancer patients and their families. 2009 Snowball Softball Mike Kmetz Memorial Tournament ― Men's and co-ed softball teams from across the New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut area will compete on February 7 in a single elimination softball tournament. The event will feature all-day food, beverages, prizes, and a raffle, with all proceeds benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). The tournament will take place at Louis M.
