Multiple Myeloma Patient Spearheads Cluster Study - Lorraine Colabella, a former resident of Lyndhurst, New Jersey who was diagnosed with multiple myeloma five years ago, is leading a campaign to find out if a cancer cluster exists at the former site of Penick Corporation. Health concerns voiced by the residents of Lyndhurst have lead to a formal investigation to find out if there is contamination where the pharmaceuticals manufacturer once stood. The most probable cause of contamination is a chemical spill that occurred in 1980. Although the site was cleaned up under the Industrial Site Recovery Act, 1989 air quality tests showed that the carcinogen levels were high.
