help me understand my MRI

by Alyssa2012 on Mon Apr 02, 2012 3:30 pm

Hi I am now 2 years ouf from my stem cell transplant and now in complete response for over a year. I have been doing (Aredia) but would like to take a break. My doctor ordered some imaging, just to be sure everyting is good before stopping. blood work is great, my history is IGG lambda multiple myeloma.

Dr. ordered an MRi of my spine and Bone density test (have not had density test yet)

I have had previous scans (ct scan) to rule out lung blood clot, but the incidental findings showed multiple myeloma affecting my spine (said multiple lytic lesions in the thoracic, largest at the t8) at diagnosis I had lytic lesion on ribs, and one on my thoracic.

My recent MRI says nothing about lytic lesions, talks most about compression fractures, since that is the "clinical history".

It says: I see no definite evidence of marrow edema on the T1 and T2 weighted images to suggest acute vertebral compression fracture. Fat suppressed T2 weighted images have not been performed. There is no gross loss of vertebral height, apart from slight loss of height in the T7 vertebral body, but again, with no evidence of marrow edema to suggest acute compression fracture.

Other findings it notes a few disc bulges:

(c6-7 small disc protrusion with slight cord indentation but no loss of signal)
(L4-5 mild broad based disc bulge no nerve root compression)

I think this is pretty good MRI report? everyone has these disc bulges for the most part, and my thoraci spine seems to have healed itself?
