Velcade reaction?

My husband has recently started a round of sq Velcade consolidation treatment 6 months after his second tandem transplant. The first two shots went fine but with the last two, he has spiked fevers up to 38.9 out of the blue several hours later, accompanied by drop in blood pressure when he stands up. Within 2-3 hours, the fevers resolve and he is fine again. Could this be a reaction to the sq Velcade? Cultures have been negative. If so, how can we prevent it so as to avoid trips to the ER.
