I underwent an autologous stem cell transplant in August. These are my test results:
Kappa free light chain 0.33 - 1.94 mg/dL 2.54
Lambda free light chain 0.57 - 2.63 mg/dL 0.81
Kappa/lambda FLC ratio 0.26 - 1.65 3.14
One month ago, my kappa free light chains were 1.94, and since have risen. I know that it's really a question for my doctor, but any help in interpreting these results, especially the "ratio? Thanks.

Re: Kappa-lambda ratio has gone up - what's it mean?
Those numbers are still pretty good. Tests will vary and you need a series to see if there is a trend. Right now I would not get too excited about a very slight change.

Hi Jim,
I agree with Ron. The other thing worth pointing out is that it hasn't been that long since your transplant. So your immune system is still rebuilding itself. I think that, within the first 90-100 days after a transplants, most myeloma specialists are not too concerned about variations in free light chain levels like you've experienced precisely because the immune system is still in flux.
In any case, do check with your doctor, and let us know what you hear.
Good luck!
