Changes in tongue after treatment

by Perseverance on Sun Sep 04, 2011 11:36 pm

Has anyone heard of, or experienced, a change in the tongue after treatment? In particular, bumps on the tongue, especially toward the back of the throat? It is clearly different than thrush.

I have that and it is part of the graft host reaction. If it becomes uncomfortable, get with your dr. to get medication for it.

What kind of treatment are you talking about.

I had all the skin in my toungue and throat slough off from different chemos.

after my SCT I had a lot of mouth sores etc.

Mouth symptoms are very common side effects to treatment.

try rinsing you mouth out with water with a teaspoon of baking soda in it every hour or so for a few days. It really helps.

It's been noticeable since a couple months subsequent to the stem cell transplant (about 10 months ago). Symptoms: rough bumpy texture on the tongue, mostly toward the back of throat.
