I recently had an auto SCT [stem cell transplant]. Within days after I had my stem cell transplant infusion I was given a shot of Velcade and then once again a couple of days later I was given another shot of Velcade. My doctor said that it would potentially kill off any myeloma left behind in my harvested stem cells which were given back to me or kill off any that might have survived the chemo prior to the SCT.
That makes sense to me. But I was just curious if anyone else was given Velcade within days after their auto SCT, since I had never heard of this approach before my SCT.

That's a new one on me. Sounds plausible enough. Hope it works out for ya!

I haven't heard of that, but I know that some go on a maintenance therapy and some don't. I didn't and my SCT seems to have kept me in remission for about the average length of time.
