by alpass on Thu Mar 07, 2013 6:14 pm

Hi Guys
i live 2hrs. from my well known ONCOLOGIST.i get my aredia at a local hospital that is close to me.
i did my first 2cycles of carfilszimid, everything was fine.creatanine tick up a little above normal.
i was due for my aredia,so i called my drs.office where my main dr. is and got the nurse practioner on the phone.i wanted to make sure it was ok for the local infusion nurses to give me aredia and my carfilzimid on the same day.she it would be fine.
my creatatine skyrocketed to 2.88 from 1.30.
i was off all medicine for a month,my kappa l.c. started to go up also.
i am now on 2mg. of pomalyst and 20 mg. dex.
while not on anything my creatanine came down to 2.20.igot it checked today tick up to 2.40
any idea`s dr.said for now no aredia
thanks
Al

Hi Al, Your aredia treatments would be postponed because the higher creatinine levels can indicate kidney damage, or stress on the kidneys. When I had my aredia treatments, they were initially over a four hour IV in order not to stress the kidneys. That policy was later changed to two hours...still a long time to be on an IV. Hope your levels stabilize again soon!
