Cell mobilization requirement for CAR T-cell therapy?

by Annamaria on Sat Nov 16, 2019 12:28 pm

Like others, I hope that the currently available treatments will keep me alive and in good shape until the promising CAR T-cell therapies are available to treat myeloma. At the moment I appear to be starting a second relapse. However, I have one doubt: in order to extract the lymphocytes, is the procedure the same as that in a transplant? For my transplant, there were only sufficient cells available for that one, and none could be stored. When, after two years, my doctor recommended to try a new stem cell collection, there were insufficient cells. So my fear is that I will not be eligible for CAR T-cell therapy for that reason.
