Hi, I am new to this forum, and I am hoping I am posting my question in the right place.
My mother, 52, after having lower back pain, which later developed into unbarable sciatic pain in her left leg, went through a great number of tests (beginning of last year). They found a swelling on her lower spine. Blood and urine tests didn't confirm plasmacytoma; xrays and imaging tests revealed minor disctruction of the bone; after the biopsy they diagnosed her with plasmacytoma. She has been being treated with radiation and chemotherapy since then. Recently, she developed hard swelings on her skin in several places, which after the biopsy, were confirmed to be plasmacytomic nature as well. The blood tests are still showing only slightly higher levels of protein. Her doctors cannot explain this, but based on other symptoms are calling it, and treating her for mutliple Myeloma. I wanted to see if anyone may have any opinion on this. Thank you very much for your help!

Re: DIagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, blood test normal
Hi Pavalex,
A small percentage of myeloma patients do not have evidence of protein in their blood or urine. It's known as non-secretory myeloma.
There are several discussions about non-secretory myeloma in this forum. You may want to begin here:
