Progress with treatment and positives!
Hello everyone! It's been awhile since I've been on here and or posted. Life has been super busy with my husbands treatment and battling insurance mess. We started chemo on nov 9th and only had 2/3 of the treatment bc of insurance; the docs office was trying to up the Revlimid dosage and insurance said no. . Well my husbands doctor ordered blood work following his first treatment to get an idea of where we stand with his myeloma. After one thing or another we hadn't been able to meet with the doctor till yesterday (11/30) to get the results. Welllll, we got told that the dex and Velcade were working without the Revlimid and that we will just stick with dex and Velcade. His doc said that in August my husbands proteins were well over 8000 and after just one round of Velcade and 2 months of just dex, my husbands proteins were down to 2750!!! We were supposed to go through 6 cycles but the doc said that we will only have to do 3 and that we are already looking at transplant even though we just started round two yesterday! Doc also stated that back in August my husbands kidneys were only going to function together at 40% with irreversible damage. . But as of yesterday my husbands kidneys are at 100% function ability!!!!! I am so thankful for his doctor and for his constant encouragement and help through this whole ordeal. I know not all doctors are the same but I have heard such horror stories that I was dreading everything. Now All I can say is that God is good. I know it is one day at a time with multiple myeloma an we arent guaranteed anything but I am so thankful for this progress! Just wanted to encourage everyone who is facing myeloma themselves or with a loved one, don't give up! It is definitely not easy but life is so precious. Love your loved one like you've never loved before. Pray without ceasing and live life as best as you can. Try not to concentrate so much on the negatives but on making precious memories so you can have those to remember instead of the bad! Love to all!!
