Re: CAR T-cell therapy trial or ASCT?

Saifen,

Thank you for the update and clarification.

Regarding the doctor and patients you spoke with, are they associated with one of the four trials I listed in my previous post? If so, which of the four trials is it?

I hope your father continues to respond well to the treatment he is getting, and that he stays in remission for a long time.

JimNY,

Those are interesting articles. Thank you for sharing them.

Cheers!

Ian

This is the company that I am talking about: Nanjing Legend.

I have been communicating with two patients in this trial.

One of them is over a year, the other is in a half year mark.

Both them are relapsed patients, after treatment, they are both in stringent complete response (sCR).

Adding my 2 cents worth. My husband, too, did not benefit from autologous stem cell transplant. It is a lot to go through. He was 56 at the time. Although he has more stem cells in the freezer for a 2nd transplant if needed down the road, I will not encourage him to go through that a second time. I do not know the age of your father. That too should be strongly considered. If offered CAR T-cell therapy, I believe my husband would jump at the opportunity. We are excited about the potential with that therapy and are currently doing monoclonal antibody (daratumumab) therapy. Although the side effects are less than some of his previous chemo regimens, his numbers are creeping up again. He was best served by Revlimid. Although he suffered GI side effects, it was best at keeping his myelome controlled (i.e., did not progress). Best of luck to you and your family.

Update

My dad went through ASCT at the end of 2017, but the ASCT was not working very well on my dad.

The plama cell came back very quick and he went back on treatment in September 2018.

Because of the side effect of RCD, his platelets dropped to less than 20 in early 2019. Our doctor stopped drugs on him.

By end of March 2019, he got very bad lung infection. We went to a CAR T-cell trial in China in April last year. It is more than a year now, he is in very good recovery. For the recent blood check in March this year, his blood free light chain numbers are normal, with all blood counts in normal range. But with M protein in IFC, polyclonal, IGGL and IGGK (total 3 g/L).

One year without any medicine makes him a good recovery and very good life quaility.

Great thanks to the CAR T-cell therapy!
