Hemoglobin better after one week of CyBorD
After only one week of cyclophosphamide, Velcade, and dexamethasone (CyBorD) treatment and 2 units of blood, my husband's hemoglobin is up to 11.0. His calcium and uric acid are back down to normal. Platelets in low normal range (145,000) and his creatinine is down to 3.2 from, at it's highest, 5.0. His WBC is holding at 7.0 and his ANC count is also good.
I know we have many more treatments to go, but I will take this little bit of good news!

Dogmom,
This is wonderful news! I am very hopeful that this good start portends a very positive long-term response to treatment!
Thanks for keeping us updated. Your husband is very lucky to have you in his corner and being so involved in his treatment.

Thanks, Ellen and Chris. He is eating so much better as well and his weight is holding good. We go for his third chemo tomorrow. He feels like working a complete schedule except for chemo days and even went to a basketball game with a buddy last night after work.

Re: Hemoglobin better after one week of CyBorD
Well, his creatinine is down to 2.6 and BUN 36. All his other chemistry test (calcium, uric acid, etc.) are normal. His hemoglobin is holding between 10.5 and 11.0, and his platelets are up to 170,000. His ANC count is great at 7.6. He is slowly putting back on some of the weight he lost.
We have one more treatment in this cycle, and then the next week we see the doc again. His main side effect so far has been fatigue, but nothing that he isn't managing ok. I hope this keeps up because I know he will have some hard days at first when he does his stem cell transplant.
