Insurance change

by elmer on Sat Nov 12, 2011 10:47 pm

If my cobra insurance changes (not by my choice) in the middle of coverage will it stop my coverage for my stem cell transplant due to pre exsisting condition? What the heck is going on? Very scared.

Hi Elmer, When does your COBRA insurance stop? Have you checked with Medicaid in your state to see if you qualify? I never did COBRA because i could not afford the monthly premium so i signed up with Medicaid in AZ and it paid for my ASCT 100%. Originally, i was going to have a BMT and had a donor, but that had to be cancelled when my work insurance expired. Once on Medicaid, i had to start over with a new transplant doctor in AZ and he told me to do the ASCT first, which i did. How many cycles of chemo have you had? I did 6 cycles before ASCT.
