In August of 2010, our mother was diagnosed with stage II Mutiple Myeloma. Not having any symptoms other than an intestinal infection my sister and I were completely blown away by her diagnosis. Being a strong willed individual....walking 3 to 4 miles a day...maintaining her huge lawn and garden...we thought how could this happen to her.
It is now March 4, 2011 and just a little over six months after her diagnosis she has completed 4 rounds of RVD therapy and undergone a successful stem cell transplant on February 9, 2011. She has had her ups and downs but thankfully mostly ups!!!
We should all be encourage by her magnificent attitude and strength.

Tom, "courage and strength" are the perfect words to describe your mother! All of her walking must have paid off; she must have been in excellent condition to go through RVD and a transplant. It takes a lot of courage to go through that kind of treatment at her age.
Best wishes to you, your mom, and you entire family. Thanks for sharing and keep us updated.

Tom: I'm interested to know where your mom went for the SCT.
Surprised that any facility would attempt this, at her age.
Congratulations on having such a strong mother!!
