Re: How long does it take Revlimid to work?

Thalidomide initially worked and I was going for a stem cell transplant but myeloma came back quickly, so transplant cancelled. Started on Revlimid with 40 mg of dexamethasone once per week. Bone marrow biopsy came back at 65% after first three weeks on Revlimid, an increase from 50% when stem cell ...

How long does it take Revlimid to work?

Grateful if anyone can give me some advice on Revlimid. I'm half way thru my second cycle but am still having blood and platelet transfusions weekly. I'm concerned that it is not working. How long does it take to kick in?

Fatigue is a major issue.

Many thanks for any advice.

Re: Problems after harvest of stem cells

I'm from Australia. Initially my haematologist said that for the government to let me have Revlimid I had to go on thalidomide for at least a month, however I stayed on that at as I had dramatic improvement. I've completed six months treatments and am not on anything now as I'm waiting for stem cell...

Problems after harvest of stem cells

My first treatment was Velcade but that didn't work so was changed to thalidomide, cyclophosphamide tablets and dexamethasone. I was also on prednisalone during the Velcade stage and gradually dosage was lowered for this. I was recommended to stem cell transplant and had a big hit of IV cyclophospha...

Re: Blood transfusions not working - what's next?

Many thanks for your advice, greatly appreciated. I have been making a concerted effort to eat protein-enriched foods, including red meat, over the last few weeks. Protein levels are increasing, maybe too soon for albumin, but I am having weekly bloods prior to treatment. I confirm that I have just ...

Re: Blood transfusions not working - what's next?

Unfortunately, after three weeks, I had to commence more blood and platelet transfusions. Also been getting edema in legs quite badly. Got a copy of a blood test and noticed my albumin has dropped to 2.2 from about 3.5 prior to treatment. Not good? Should I raise this with oncologist? Only on my thi...

Re: Blood transfusions not working - what's next?

Many thanks the feedback and query. I am now taking large doses of prednisone. For the last two weeks, my haemoglobin and platelets are holding and I have had weekly treatments of Velcade without the need for a blood transfusion. Hoping that the Velcade is working and not responsible for breaking do...

Re: Blood transfusions not working - what's next?

Thanks for the info. The paraproteins in my bloods are quite low, however the plasma cells in my bones are high. I feel the whole situation is not under control. Too many hospital stays and I've only just completed the first round of bortezomib [Velcade], steroids and bone strengthener. My greatest ...

Blood transfusions not working - what's next?

I have multiple myeloma (IgA lambda) with severe anemia. I am on bortezomib (Velcade), dexamethasone, and a bone strengthener. I have had difficulties going through the first round of the treatment. I need constant blood transfusions. Sometimes, my body refuses the transfusions. When I do accept t...

Re: Can blood test results contradict BMB results?

Many thanks for the informative responses. Yes, it did develop to multiple myeloma (anaemia, low platelets, etc.). Weekly treatment started (bortezomib [Velcade], steroids and Zometa), along with a few blood transfusions.
