My husband is on 25 mg Revlimid and 20 mg dex weekly, x3 weeks every month (dex reduced from 40 to 20 due to difficulty tolerating). He just completed his 5th month and has a lot of diarrhea, stomach upset etc.
Any suggestions re. what may work in dealing with GI upsets on this treatment?

Re: Gastrointestinal upset on Revlimid & dex
I'm taking 20 mg Revlimid, 40 mg Dex. Each morning I take 20 mg omeprazole before breakfast for stomach upset. I also started having a bowl of cereal each morning since starting the meds. I've been lucky and had no stomach / digestive issues. My oncologist prescribed the omeprazole.

Have been on 25mg Revlimid /.20 Dex for almost 2 years. I have constipation. I have started eating fiber bars, they seem to be helping.

Could you clarify exactly what your husband's GI problems are. Maybe it's just me, but "gastrointestinal upset" seems like it could be so many different things, like nausea, heartburn, or bloating. All of these can be taken care of in many cases, but there isn't any one size fits all solution.
You should know, however, that GI problems are pretty common with Revlimid. So your husband is not alone in experiencing them.

Re: Gastrointestinal upset on Revlimid & dex
Hi Cheryl,
He has crampy stomach discomfort, frequent diarrhea, gas. It's probably at its worst on his dex day.No nausea and his appetite is good.
I know this goes along with the treatment, just interested to see if people have thoughts on what worked for them.
Thanks
